FAQs

Who are the consultations open to?

My services are open to English-speaking families of individuals with special needs developmentally at the elementary level (with or without physical disabilities). I also service children without special needs. Clients are welcome globally. Please note that I do not provide assistance for second-language learning.

I have never worked with a consultant.  Do I really need another specialist to deal with?

You have worked with so many specialists in your child`s lifetime. I hear you. I try to avoid them as much as possible myself. However, I’m not here to add more pressure on you. I’m certainly not here to pick on things you’re doing and not doing.

Think of me as a supportive ally with knowledge in education. I will guide you, inspire you and get you started in the direction you have always wanted to go – but didn’t quite know how to get there.

You have a really soothing presence – it was really easy to talk with you. You were really prepared for the call and had some ideas already for when we talked.  Getting all of the great website suggestions and activity ideas really helped me finalize my plan and feel more confident in my new teacher role.~Sara Carbaugh Homeschooling mom, blogger at Creating Purple Fire

Why should I invest in private consulting when I can get ideas online for free?

We all need help at one time or another because we cannot do everything. As a homeschooling parent, you are busy and tired, and lack time to do the research yourself.

The truth is, when you need cleaning help, you hire a cleaning crew. When you need help fixing the car, you hire a mechanic. When you need a haircut, you hire a hair stylist.

When the days are long and tough, and your well has run dry, you can reach beyond yourself and get individualized support for your child with special needs. You are already doing everything so well, but when you need that extra support – personalized to your particular situation – nothing beats one-on-one consultations.

I am not a search engine. I am someone who will listen to your specific concerns and give you strategies to best meet the needs of your child and family. Also, by having a real live person to talk with will help make you accountable for the tips and tricks you’re given. How many times have you bookmarked an idea and never returned to it?  That won’t happen if you have a report with recommendations for your specific situation because you know they will work.

I found it to be very valuable. You are direct, stay on topic and summarized everything clearly in the follow up package.  I feel much more confident teaching problem solving. I feel I have an authentic ‘plan of attack’.” ~ Jasmin Gibbons, homeschooling mom of 2

I’ve been homeschooling for a long while now.  How can you possibly help me?

I have 16+ years experience in the classroom with large groups of children and one-on-one interventions. I have professional experience with a wide variety of diagnoses. I have personal experience with my own child with special needs who is also homeschooled. I have always had a heart for children with diverse needs and my research in providing the best quality education continues even today. My mission is to help families find the right educational solutions for a peaceful home.

Plus, all of this stuff in my credentials.

I am more informed on alternatives to worksheets and feel better able to look at the development of my children as a whole.” ~ Chantal, mom of 2

Why those price tags?

I put my heart and soul into each and every call or parental inquiry.  I do my best to give the best information I know based on my many years experience, as well as on cutting edge techniques. I keep the rates reasonable because I want to be accessible to as many families who need me as possible.

I love the way you present the information. It appeals to my sensibilities the way it’s organized, short, to the point, practical.” ~ Beth Phillips, homeschooling mom of 4, blogger and founder of Being Home and PA Homeschool Law

What are my payment options?

To keep things simple, payments are made through Paypal. This allows you to pay by credit card without my knowing your personal information.  If you don’t have an account, it’s super easy to set-up. Once you have a Paypal account, you can use it for just about any online purchase with a click of a button.

What is your cancellation/ rescheduling policy?

Life happens. You have enough to deal with. We’re parents and anything can come up unexpectedly. If you worry that you won’t be able to make the appointment – know that I understand. I don’t want you to feel stressed about meeting with me. Here is my cancellation/ rescheduling policy: If you have scheduled an appointment and can’t make it – you can reschedule it the same way you booked it – no charge – even if you decide to cancel. The details of this policy will be in your welcome package (sent to you at the time of booking).

I thought the whole process was very professional. Your advice was what I needed. I have been applying it and have found it very helpful.” ~ Shanta Allard, homeschooling mom of 2
