Ongoing Parental Support Calls

1-on-1, ongoing guidance to help you stop procrastinating and finally sort through your most pressing homeschooling concerns

Get regular access to me at a reduced rate! You choose how often you want to meet (once a week? every second week? monthly? 3 consecutive days? other?) and I will help you turn your frustrations into action!

This is a series of 3 (or more calls) where I will provide you with advice, support, resources, and also hold you accountable for:

  • kickstarting the process of homeschooling
  • prioritizing your goals
  • creating a “roadmap” to keep you focused on your most important goals
  • making curriculum choices
  • managing your time
  • finding ideas and strategies to help your child acquire a new skill or concept
  • organizing for assessments and evaluations
  • remaining motivated and on track
  • distilling your concerns and repurposing them into actionable strategies for a successful homeschool experience
  • other struggles/needs your family may have

Here is what one parent had to say about this ongoing service:

“I felt overwhelmed with how to organize papers and stay effective and efficient in that regard. Gabriella is a very warm and kind person. She is also knowledgeable and quite resourceful. She shared with me great resources on certain subjects and gave me useful tips not only how to stay organized but also what areas are more important to focus on when you homeschool a child with special needs. I love consulting with Gabriella on a regular basis. Having ongoing support helps me tremendously to be the best homeschool mom I could be to my child.” ~Sadie K.

This option is great if you:

  • struggle getting started each day
  • struggle with the direction of your “lessons”
  • feel you have lost your confidence
  • feel overwhelmed
  • feel you lack the motivation to keep going
  • get lost in the online noise of homeschool ideas
  • need a push out of your comfort zone by trying new things
  • need reassurance that what you are doing is helping your child thrive!

Sometimes, all you need is another person’s perspective to guide you toward your vision as a homeschooling family.

I am a homeschooling parent of a child with special needs, too. I know what your struggles are and I have created systems for myself that keep me organized, focused, and confident.

I won’t give you to-dos that add more work to your day. I will help you reduce your list and help you spend time on the basics of homeschooling so that you can focus on your child and family.

How it will work:

  • a pre-session welcome package/questionnaire will be sent to you requiring you to send it back to me at least 24 hours before our first session
  • each session is a 30-minute consultation (via Skype)
  • we will discuss your most pressing issues, and I will leave you with one or two things to work on before our next meeting (meant to motivate you to get things done!)
  • Book 3 or more sessions to qualify for this service (and get access to me at a reduced rate!)

Note: I do not provide a plan or report following this call. I also do not provide legal assistance (see details at bottom of this page for information regarding legal help).

Cost: $20 USD/session

FAQs

Who are the consultations open to?

My services are open to English-speaking families of individuals with special needs developmentally at the elementary level (with or without physical disabilities). I also service children without special needs. Clients are welcome globally. Please note that I do not provide assistance for second-language learning.

I have never worked with a consultant.  Do I really need another specialist to deal with?

You have worked with so many specialists in your child`s lifetime. I hear you. I try to avoid them as much as possible myself. However, I’m not here to add more pressure on you. I’m certainly not here to pick on things you’re doing and not doing.

Think of me as a supportive ally with knowledge in education. I will guide you, inspire you and get you started in the direction you have always wanted to go – but didn’t quite know how to get there.

You have a really soothing presence – it was really easy to talk with you. You were really prepared for the call and had some ideas already for when we talked.  Getting all of the great website suggestions and activity ideas really helped me finalize my plan and feel more confident in my new teacher role.~Sara Carbaugh Homeschooling mom, blogger at Creating Purple Fire

Why should I invest in private consulting when I can get ideas online for free?

We all need help at one time or another because we cannot do everything. As a homeschooling parent, you are busy and tired and lack time to do the research yourself.

The truth is, when you need cleaning help, you hire a cleaning crew. When you need help fixing the car, you hire a mechanic. When you need a haircut, you hire a hair stylist.

When the days are long and tough, and your well has run dry, you can reach beyond yourself and get individualized support for your child with special needs. You are already doing everything so well, but when you need that extra support – personalized to your particular situation – nothing beats one-on-one consultations.

I am not a search engine. I am someone who will listen to your specific concerns and give you strategies to best meet the needs of your child and family. Also, by having a real live person to talk with will help make you accountable for the tips and tricks you’re given. How many times have you bookmarked an idea and never returned to it?  That won’t happen if you have a report with recommendations for your specific situation because you know they will work.

I found it to be very valuable. You are direct, stay on topic and summarized everything clearly in the follow-up package.  I feel much more confident teaching problem solving. I feel I have an authentic ‘plan of attack’.” ~ Jasmin Gibbons, homeschooling mom of 2

I’ve been homeschooling for a long while now.  How can you possibly help me?

I have 16+ years experience in the classroom with large groups of children and one-on-one interventions. I have professional experience with a wide variety of diagnoses. I have personal experience with my own child with special needs who is also homeschooled. I have always had a heart for children with diverse needs and my research in providing the best quality education continues even today. My mission is to help families find the right educational solutions for a peaceful home.

Plus, all of this stuff in my credentials.

I am more informed on alternatives to worksheets and feel better able to look at the development of my children as a whole.” ~ Chantal, mom of 2

Why those price tags?

I pour my heart and soul into each and every call or parental inquiry.  I do my best to give the best information I know based on my many years’ experience, as well as on cutting-edge techniques. I keep the rates reasonable because I want to be accessible to as many families who need me as possible.

I love the way you present the information. It appeals to my sensibilities the way it’s organized, short, to the point, practical.” ~ Beth Phillips, homeschooling mom of 4, blogger and founder of Being Home and PA Homeschool Law

What are my payment options?

To keep things simple, payments are made through Paypal. This allows you to pay by credit card without my knowing your personal information.  If you don’t have an account, it’s super easy to set-up. Once you have a Paypal account, you can use it for just about any online purchase with a click of a button.

What is your cancellation/ rescheduling policy?

Life happens. You have enough to deal with. We’re parents and anything can come up unexpectedly. If you worry that you won’t be able to make the appointment – know that I understand. I don’t want you to feel stressed about meeting with me. Here is my cancellation/ rescheduling policy: If you have scheduled an appointment and can’t make it – you can reschedule it the same way you booked it – no charge – even if you decide to cancel. The details of this policy will be in your welcome package (sent to you at the time of booking).

I thought the whole process was very professional. Your advice was what I needed. I have been applying it and have found it very helpful.” ~ Shanta Allard, homeschooling mom of 2
